A company with over 30 years of experience in the IT solutions world. A privately owned company, a couple had taken the business from 0 to 200 million annually by word of mouth alone. When I was contacted about the role, I knew I had a amazing opportunity to help move a company brand forward.
One of the first things to tackle was the fact that no materials looked like they belonged to the same company. Digital materials went one way, Powerpoint went the other and recruiting materials created it's own path.
Working with the Marketing department writer, we built a common voice and a distinct visual structure that had a story to tell. Daugherty is a company that moves like a startup, but has the stability of an established enterprise. Using layers to reflect the many talents that lay beneath the surface and modern photography to reflect environment, our baseline was established.
With a stable foundation to build upon, we pursued the website. Taking stock of the content we did have and where we knew it needed to go, the team collaborated on a content strategy that we could realistically achieve. Also, we discussed what tool would work best when considering the skillsets across individuals. In the end, we landed on Wordpress.
With strategy set and platform decided on… I started wireframing while content happened in parallel. Because no one else on the team had in-depth knowledge of coding, abstracting complex markup into easy to use tags was a necessity. Custom shortcodes were created that allowed others on the team to write for the site and still leverage semi-elaborate structures.
